The theme of this years World Spine Day is “Move Your Spine”.

CT says: ‘World Spine Day has become a focus for raising awareness of back pain and other spinal issues. With health professionals, exercise and rehabilitation experts and patients all taking part in the 2023 theme of #MoveYourSpine.

A staggering one billion people worldwide suffer from back pain and spinal pain affecting all age groups, from children to the elderly. It is the biggest single cause of years lived with disability on the planet, with one in four adults estimated to suffer from back pain during their lives. This World Spine Day, we will be highlighting the importance of spinal health and wellbeing throughout life with a theme of #MoveYourSpine.

Every spine counts

In the Borough of Bexley, we are fortunate to have access to a number of clinics that help take care of spinal pain. Populations in under-served parts of the world often have no access to conventional healthcare resources to care for spinal pain and disability. With many relying on traditional healers, even those who are seen in hospitals have limited access to evidence-based resources. Dedicated spinal health professionals do not exist in many parts of the world, so education and self-help is key.

Even in high-income countries, back pain afflicts many millions of people, resulting in an enormous impact on industry and the economy.

So what are we doing at Blackfen Chiropractic Clinic?

Injury and aging contribute to spines stiffening up and working less well.

Here at the clinic, we assess the joints of the body for movement. We know that when we get joints moving better we help the body towards better function and improved health.

Getting you pain free and healthier can often be quite straightforward with a combination of chiropractic care, exercise and lifestyle advice. Sometimes a collaborative approach is required with input from our in-house massage therapists and possible referrals to consultants or for imaging.

Tips for keeping your spine moving:

·      Aim for 30 minutes of “get your sweat on” activity per day

·      Do exercise that you enjoy

·      Take regular breaks from sitting and using mobile devices

·      Think about every lift you make, try make your tummy firm when lifting.

When should I see my chiropractor?

Most pain eases with movement. In cases where pain eases with movement, but keeps reoccurring, consider making an appointment with your chiropractor to get better long lasting results.
