The festive season is upon us and we are all feeling merry!
This time of year, we see a fair few festive ‘injuries’ ranging from too many hours sitting on the floor wrapping presents to trips and slips that happened whilst out and about for a Christmas work do!
We put together a few life hacks that we have learnt over the years, to help keep you pain free and healthy during this festive time.
Wrapping for hours? Sore back?
The solution: Use the ironing board instead of the floor as your work surface.
How: Adjust the ironing board height so that you can stand upright and wrap. And when your legs get tired of standing, lower the board height so you can sit comfortably on the sofa with a straight back, whilst finishing off the last few items of wrapping. No more over stretching or pins and needles in the feet!
2. Feeling a bit sluggish after a big meal and 3 post dinner mince pies?
The solution: Get up and move in the morning!
How: This is not meant to be ‘make up’ for what you ate the night before, but rather a way of prioritising movement to make you feel like your best, happiest self. A good walk in some fresh air/ even a some gentle Pilates stretches will do wonders to boost energy levels, motivation and even mental health. And fitting movement in first thing in the morning gives you less chance of talking yourself out of it. 😊
3. Sooo much to do and so little time..
The solution: Be kind to yourself!
How: Take a moment to make sure your focus is on the right things. Not presents or the perfect Christmas meal, but rather the people, the connections and the privilege of being here for another year. Take a step back and revisit some of your accomplishments this year. Ask your loved ones what made them proud in 2022 and share in each others’ success!
